Second Meeting held on 11th July,
2006
In the
second meeting of the India Rejuvenation Initiative (IRI)
held on
11th July, 2006,
the following decisions
were taken:
§
India Rejuvenation Initiative (IRI) would focus on corruption
at the top echelons.
§
A letter would be addressed to the Prime Minister for
constituting the Integrity Commission as a one time exercise
for surgical removal of corrupt public servants occupying
top positions in the country by focusing on examination of
their assets (movable and immovable) rather than specific
wrong doing in any particular case.
§
Public servants would include the political executive also.
It would also include those members of the political
executive who have occupied the top posts at Government of
India or in the States in the last ten years or so.
§
Letter to the Prime Minister would also be released to the
Press so that a public debate on the proposal is initiated
and mobilization of public opinion can take place.
§
India Rejuvenation Initiative (IRI) may think of taking up
public investigations in specific cases involving masses
but at a later stage.
