Ninth Meeting of IRI on 23rd November, 2007
In the Ninth meeting of India Rejuvenation Initiative (IRI) held on
23rd November, 2007,
the following major decisions were taken:

The letters addressed to the Hon’ble Chief Justice of
India and President of India on the subject of
appointment of a judge of doubtful integrity as acting
Chief Justice of a High Court may be released to the
Press.

A delegation of IRI should call on the President of
India and reiterate its views on the issue of
appointment of tainted persons to high judicial offices.

It was decided that the list of those IAS / IPS
officers, who are widely known to have amassed assets
disproportionate to their known sources of income,
prepared for some States may be sent to appropriate
authorities in Government of India and State Governments
for taking appropriate action at the earliest.

Workshops may be organized by IRI in different cities of
the country like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar,
Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Mumbai next year. The first in
the series of workshops may be organized at Mumbai early
next year.

IRI should quickly publish the Proceedings of the
National Workshop organized in September, 2007; Keynote
address of Justice Lahoti and Pamphlet for distribution
among students.

Letters may be sent to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, all
Chief Ministers, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Chairman of
Rajya Sabha requesting them to place the property
returns of public servants – all Ministers, MPs, MLAs,
IAS / IPS officers on the web site in the public domain.

Steps may be taken to set up a secretariat to coordinate
the activities of various groups / organizations /
individuals.
The
sub-committees set up by IRI to examine ways in which the
CBI and the CVC can be further strengthened were requested
to give their report at the earliest. |
